Recap: Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots vs. Martin Tigers
The Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 45-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Martin. Mission Veterans Memorial lost against Martin in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 67-32 score last time.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Diego Serrano, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Davis, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Mission Veterans Memorial has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Martin, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission Veterans Memorial will challenge Juarez-Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Juarez-Lincoln is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Martin, they will head out on the road to face off against Nixon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Nixon is on a three-game streak of home wins, Martin a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
