Football Game Preview: Centerville Bulldogs vs. Union City Indians

The Centerville Bulldogs will take on the Union City Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Centerville's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Union County to the tune of 64-0. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 56-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had no chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centerville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jace Hollendonner, who threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Hollendonner a new career-high in passer rating (168.8). Roger Gipson Iii helped Hollendonner out on the ground, rushing for 94 yards and a pair of TDs.

Centerville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Maddox Pritchett and Brylen Riggs. Pritchett got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union City). They blew past Cambridge City Lincoln 92-6 on Friday. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Centerville better keep an eye on D'Shaun Ware. He was instrumental in Union City's win, rushing for 125 yards and four scores, while also picking up 150 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Ware has become a key player for the Indians: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 0-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gavin Elmore, who rushed for 107 yards and one TD on only five carries.

Union City's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Centerville, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Everything came up roses for Centerville against Union City when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 55-0 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
