Softball Recap: Union Farmers vs. Oak Knoll Royals
Union had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-7 to make it five. They lost 14-4 to the Oak Knoll Royals. The Farmers were not able to make up for their loss to the Royals from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
Union saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alessandra Silvestre, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Silvestre has hit this season.
As for Oak Knoll, the win got them back to even at 5-5. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
On Oak Knoll's side, Kelsey Wincko was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Wincko has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Abby Han was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Amelia Flood was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Coming up, Union will square off against Linden at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oak Knoll, they will face off against Dayton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
