Baseball Recap: Sycamore Has No Trouble Against Cheatham County Central

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Waverly Central, Sycamore was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Cheatham County Central Cubs by a score of 7-3. That four run margin sets a new team best for the War Eagles this season.

Owen McMahan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 16 Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Conner Jones was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sycamore's record now sits at 3-1. As for Cheatham County Central, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Sycamore will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cheatham County Central: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
