Softball Game Preview: Utica Eisenhower Eagles vs. Lutheran North Mustangs

The Utica Eisenhower Eagles will challenge the Lutheran North Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Utica Eisenhower has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Lutheran North will come in with nine straight wins.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Utica Eisenhower's offense. They came up short against Dakota on Wednesday, falling 11-0.

21 must be Lutheran North's lucky number: they beat St. Ursula Academy with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Mustangs beat the Arrows by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 21-7. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Lutheran North's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Utica Eisenhower, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything went Utica Eisenhower's way against Lutheran North when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Utica Eisenhower made off with a 12-1 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
