Baseball Recap: Calaveras Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Calaveras waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Big Valley Christian Lions with a sharp 13-2 win. With that victory, the Red Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Evan Janssen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Calaveras: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cohen Curran, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Aidan Bruckner was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Calaveras was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
