Basketball Recap: Mathews Comes Up Short

Mathews was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 51-35 fall against the Badger Braves. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-44 back in December of 2024.

Gabriella Miller was her usual excellent self, putting up 25 points in addition to eight boards and six steals for Badger. Those 25 points gave Miller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophie Stanhope, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Mathews' defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Badger, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mathews and Harding will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Badger, they will face off against Lowellville at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th.
