Softball Game Preview: Chippewa Falls Cardinals vs. New Richmond Tigers

For the second straight game, Chippewa Falls will face off against New Richmond. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Chippewa Falls' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so New Richmond's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Chippewa Falls proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 15) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over New Richmond. The game was the first time the Cardinals have beaten the Tigers on their field since May 2, 2023.

For New Richmond's part, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brier Blietz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Chippewa Falls has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for New Richmond, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-7.
