Top 20 most dominant New Mexico high school football programs of last decade

Fueled by three state championships and two runner-up finishes, Cleveland is the most dominant high school football team from New Mexico over the last decade.

Based on MaxPreps methodology, the Storm amassed 294 points from play over 2010 to 2019 to outdistance Las Cruces, which finished second with 257 points.

Cleveland won state titles in 2011, 2015 and 2019, including two undefeated seasons. It finished among the top eight ranked teams in the state in nine of the 10 years. Las Cruces won back-to-back 5A crowns starting in 2012.

Our methodology includes:



• Top 25 finishes in the MaxPreps state computer rankings (25 points awarded to the No. 1 team, 24 for No. 2 and so on).

• Top 25 finishes in the MaxPreps national computer rankings (50 points for No. 1, 49 for No. 2 and so on).

• State championships (20 points).

• State championship game appearances (10 points).
