Softball Recap: Southern Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Southern, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Preston Knights with a sharp 9-1 victory on Friday. The Rams not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 29th (when they won 11-2).

Adeline Wilson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Wilson wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ava Witt, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another was Lea Custer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Southern hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Preston struck out six times.

Southern now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Preston, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Southern has already played their next contest, a 9-1 loss against Allegany on the 29th. As for Preston, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 9-4 win against Fairmont Senior on the 28th.
