Baseball Game Preview: Byron Center Bulldogs vs. Reeths-Puffer Rockets

The Byron Center Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Reeths-Puffer Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Byron Center has three straight wins, Reeths-Puffer has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Saturday, Byron Center got the win against Big Rapids by a conclusive 9-3. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

John Ryan looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter Hauck, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jackson Weber also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Byron Center hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Reeths-Puffer suffered their closest loss since June 1, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of North Muskegon by a score of 5-3. The game marked the Rockets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Byron Center pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Reeths-Puffer, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
