Softball Recap: Montclair Comes Up Short

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Montclair's offense. They fell just short of the Don Lugo Conquistadores by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their meetings with the Conquistadores: they've now lost six in a row.

Makayla Sosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in earned runs.

Montclair's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Don Lugo, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2-1 record this season.

Montclair will head out to challenge Ontario at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Montclair is facing Ontario at the right time seeing as Ontario is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Don Lugo, they will welcome Chino at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Chino has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.63 runs per game on average), something Don Lugo will no doubt try to take advantage of.
