Baseball Recap: Sonora Takes a Loss

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Sonora's offense. They fell just short of the Troy Warriors by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Robby Blaine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up ten Ks. Sonora is 5-1 when Blaine posts eight or more strikeouts, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Sonora saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Lietzau, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Sonora's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-6. As for Troy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

While Sonora had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
