Basketball Game Preview: Marvin Ridge Mavericks vs. Piedmont Panthers + How To Watch

Marvin Ridge is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out on the road to square off against the Piedmont Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Marvin Ridge strolled past Myers Park with points to spare, taking the game 42-25. That 17 point margin sets a new team best for the Mavericks this season.

Marvin Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Haley Lenahan out in front who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Sophie Fritz, who put up nine points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Piedmont, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They took their contest on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 66-36 victory over Indian Land. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season.

Marvin Ridge's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Piedmont, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Everything came up roses for Marvin Ridge against Piedmont in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, as the team secured a 78-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
