Baseball Recap: Belmont Comes Up Short

Northpoint Christian hit Belmont with a nine-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cardinals fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 10-9. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kylei Estes led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Miller Searcy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Belmont's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Northpoint Christian, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Belmont will be playing at home against Alcorn Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northpoint Christian, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Harding Academy at 4:30 p.m. on the 23rd.
