Football Recap: San Lorenzo Valley's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

San Lorenzo Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Watsonville Wildcatz 17-14. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Justin Griffis and Jesse Fulkerson. Griffis rushed for 98 yards and one TD while Fulkerson rushed for 56 yards and one score. That's the most rushing yards Fulkerson has posted since back in September.

San Lorenzo Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gabe Machado and Colton Scarborough.

San Lorenzo Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Watsonville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
