Basketball Preview: Green Ridge Tigers vs. Smithton Tigers
Green Ridge is 2-8 against the Tigers since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Green Ridge Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Smithton Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Green Ridge is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Saturday, Green Ridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-51 to the Gremlins.
Meanwhile, Smithton pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Stover 61-56. While losing is never fun, Smithton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 115th).
Green Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Smithton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Green Ridge came up short against the Tigers in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 57-51. Can Green Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
