Basketball Recap: Marion Takes a Loss

Marion lost a heartbreaker to Evart when they met back in February of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Marion Eagles were outmatched by the Evart Wildcats and fell 76-49. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.

Dakobe White was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 7 en route to 19 points in addition to seven boards and six assists for Evart. Jett Reedy was another key player, going 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds.

With the defeat, Marion broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-4. As for Evart, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Marion and Evart should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Marion (ranked 328th) will meet Crossroads Charter Academy (ranked 724th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Evart will challenge Northern Michigan Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 393 places (144 vs. 537).
