Softball Recap: Avon Takes a Loss

After flying high against Carmel on Saturday, Avon came back down to earth. The Orioles fell 8-3 to the Lake Central Indians on Saturday. If the Orioles were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Indians when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Regan Cooper made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lylah DeArmond, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Avon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Lake Central, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.

Avon has already played their next contest, a 9-5 defeat against Roncalli on the 28th. As for Lake Central, they will square off against La Porte at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Indians have won three straight at home, while the Slicers won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
