Softball Recap: Fremont Drops Season-High Score on Elkhart Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fremont). They were the clear victors by a 20-7 margin over Elkhart Christian Academy on Monday. Fremont not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024 (when they won 13-0).

Fremont got a massive performance out of Mallorie Huffnagle, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave Huffnagle a new career-high. Lexi Stevens was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Fremont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Fremont and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fremont will square off against Churubusco at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they will face off against Lakeland at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
