Basketball Recap: Edina Takes a Loss

Edina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shakopee Sabers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Hornets came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Sabers are ranked 204th).

Edina now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Shakopee, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edina will venture away from home to challenge Minnetonka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Minnetonka knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Edina likes a good challenge. As for Shakopee, they will square off against Rosemount at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rosemount's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.
