Preview: Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds vs. Lake City Community 14ers
The Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lake City Community 14ers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sangre de Cristo has three straight victories, Lake City Community has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Sangre de Cristo's strategy against Moffat on Saturday. Sangre de Cristo took down Moffat 50-36.
It was another big night for Kaiden Smit, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Deagon Rogers, who scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Lake City Community had to suffer through a rough 64-22 loss at the hands of Antonito. Lake City Community was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-10.
Sangre de Cristo pushed their record up to 11-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Lake City Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
