Basketball Game Preview: Boone Grove Wolves vs. Kankakee Valley Kougars

Boone Grove hasn't had much luck against Kankakee Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Boone Grove Wolves will take on the Kankakee Valley Kougars in a tournament on Thursday. Kankakee Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Boone Grove, who comes in off a win.

Boone Grove is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Tri-Township to the tune of 76-36 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolves considering their 21-point performance the game before.

It was another big night for Jack Stevens, who went 8 for 15 from beyond the arc on his way to 47 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Boone Grove's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Rowland, who posted seven points along with five assists and three steals.

Boone Grove was working as a unit and finished the game with 30 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Kankakee Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Portage and fell 70-43.

Kankakee Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Boone Grove, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Boone Grove suffered a grim 80-60 defeat to Kankakee Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Boone Grove, Cam Webster (who went 10 for 15 on his way to 27 points in addition to six boards and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
