Basketball Recap: Mount Olive Christian Comes Up Short

Mount Olive Christian lost against Word of God Academy back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mount Olive Christian were beaten by the Word of God Academy Force 65-28. Mount Olive Christian's defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Despite the loss, Mount Olive Christian still got an impressive performance from Dylan Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 78.6% of Mount Olive Christian's points, marking the 21st time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Taj Bell was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards for Word of God Academy. Zyere Cartwright was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points.

Mount Olive Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Word of God Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Mount Olive Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-45 victory against Union Christian Academy on the 12th. As for Word of God Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Prairie View Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th.
