Basketball Recap: Lake Nona Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Lake Nona faced off against Winter Park on Tuesday. The Lake Nona Lions took a 45-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winter Park Wildcats. The match marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Nona lost, don't look at Kymani Dixon. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. Dixon's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Moises Valdez, who put up nine points.

Lake Nona's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Winter Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Lake Nona will venture away from home to square off against Timber Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Nona is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season. As for Winter Park, they will be taking part in a tournament against East River at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. East River will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Winter Park surely won't give up without a fight.
