Soccer Recap: Waverly Central Comes Up Short

Waverly Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wayne County Wildcats. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in May of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Waverly Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Wayne County, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waverly Central will head out to challenge East Robertson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waverly Central is facing East Robertson at the right time seeing as East Robertson is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Wayne County, they will head out on the road to square off against Culleoka at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give Culleoka their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
