Softball Recap: Horizon Comes Up Short

Horizon was the 9-1 winner over Sunrise Mountain when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Huskies fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pierson Hozza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Horizon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Nolen, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Horizon's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Sunrise Mountain, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-10.

As of now, neither Horizon nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
