Basketball Recap: Palm Harbor University Comes Up Short

Palm Harbor University won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They lost 62-37 to the Dunedin Falcons. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Palm Harbor University lost, don't look at Curtis George. Despite the final result, he posted eight points in addition to eight boards and four steals. George is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Giordan Gainey, who scored 11 points and six boards.

Dunedin had a senior duo take command as SHERWIN SIMMONS went 6 for 15 en route to 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists and DEONTE MACK dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave MACK a new career-high. JALEN JACKSON was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Palm Harbor University dropped their record down to 8-14 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Dunedin, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Palm Harbor University wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-46 victory against Pinellas Park on the 27th. As for Dunedin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-66 loss against Boca Ciega on the 27th.
