South Florence is 0-3 against Catawba Ridge since February of 2022 but things could change on Monday. South Florence will square off against Catawba Ridge at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with South Florence sitting on 11 straight victories and Catawba Ridge on 26 (dating back to last season).
Catawba Ridge's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: South Florence hadn't allowed a single run the last seven times they've hit the field. South Florence didn't even let Crestwood on the board on Thursday, marking South Florence's second-straight 15-0 shutout. Considering the Bruins have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Payton Perry made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, South Florence let Reagan Rowsey and Kayla Carroway run wild. Rowsey scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Carroway scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Rowsey a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Blakely Blue, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
South Florence hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 14 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Catawba Ridge got themselves on the board against Rock Hill on Friday, but Rock Hill never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Copperheads, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Catawba Ridge pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for South Florence, their record now sits at 14-2.
South Florence came up short against Catawba Ridge when the teams last played back in May of 2023, falling 10-7. Can South Florence avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
