Baseball Game Preview: Midview Middies vs. Rocky River Pirates

The Midview Middies are taking a road trip to square off against the Rocky River Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Midview and Steele had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Middies came up short against the Comets on Tuesday, falling 9-1. Middies fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Comets since on Tuesday.

Midview got a good showing from Henry Calcut, who struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Midview saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaiden Vogelpohl, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Rocky River got the win against Lorain on Monday by a conclusive 7-1. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Midview now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Rocky River, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Midview skirted past Rocky River 7-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2015. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Middies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
