Football Game Preview: Columbia Eagles vs. Burke County Bears + Official Tickets

The Columbia Eagles will be playing at home against the Burke County Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

Columbia is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 32-18 win over East Jackson.

Columbia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Czar Daniels led the charge by throwing for 271 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 40 yards. Those 271 passing yards gave Daniels a new career-high. Rashaad Silver also helped with two scores in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Columbia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Columbia's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Martavious Burse, Andre Jones, and Mikel Edwin, who each picked up one sack apiece. Burse was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Burke County). They really took it to Sonoraville for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-21 victory. With the Bears ahead 43-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Burke County's win came from a few key players Columbia will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sean Vandiver, who rushed for 85 yards and one TD on only six carries, and also threw for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns on perfect 5-for-5 passing. Landen Wright was another major influence, as he rushed for 50 yards and ran in a TD.

Columbia's record now sits at 5-6. As for Burke County, their record is now 9-2.
