Basketball Recap: Yarmouth Takes a Loss

Yarmouth lost against Oceanside back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Yarmouth Clippers were beaten by the Oceanside Mariners 56-19. While losing is never fun, the Clippers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Mariners are ranked seventh).

Leading Oceanside to victory were Aubrianna Hoose and Renee Ripley. Hoose went 11 of 16 on her way to 24 points along with eight steals and six assists, while Ripley posted 12 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. Hoose is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Baines, who had four points and eight boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Yarmouth and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Oceanside, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Yarmouth didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-25 victory against Cape Elizabeth on the 4th. As for Oceanside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-34 win against Lincoln Academy on the 2nd.
