Recap: Berkeley Yellowjackets vs. Mt. Eden Monarchs
The Berkeley Yellowjackets entered their tilt with the Mt. Eden Monarchs with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Berkeley breezed by Mt. Eden on the road to the tune of 76-6. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 62-6.
Deontae Faison was a one-man wrecking crew for Berkeley as he threw for 306 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Faison is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Berkeley also got help from Cahlil Snead who showed off his sure hands for 127 receiving yards.
Berkeley's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.33 points. As for Mt. Eden, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Berkeley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Irvington at 7:00 p.m. Irvington is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Mt. Eden, they will head out on the road to face off against Encinal at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Encinal comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
