Softball Recap: Tahquitz Takes a Loss

Tahquitz extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 8-11 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Elsinore Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 back in April.

Suriah Ortiz and Vanessa Garcia did some serious damage despite the final result: Ortiz went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI, while Garcia went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Megan Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

As for Elsinore, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games.

On Elsinore's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaycee Hullar, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Tahquitz has already played their next contest, a 4-1 defeat against San Jacinto on the 7th. As for Elsinore, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 20-4 win against West Valley on the 7th.
