Basketball Recap: Sierra Brown Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

Waterbury Career Academy hadn't done well against Kennedy recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Waterbury Career Academy Spartans took down the Kennedy Eagles 52-34. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 43-22 back in January.

Waterbury Career Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sierra Brown out in front who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in boards. Malinna Figueroa was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Waterbury Career Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win got Waterbury Career Academy back to even at 7-7. As for Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.

Coming up, Waterbury Career Academy will head out on the road to face off against Ansonia at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennedy, they will host Crosby at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
