Preview: Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars vs. The Webb School Feet
Middle Tennessee Christian is 0-10 against the Feet since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The pair will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Middle Tennessee Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 15-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Middle Tennessee Christian pushed their score all the way to 69 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Franklin Road Academy.
Meanwhile, The Webb School had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Franklin Road Academy 79-48 on the road on Tuesday. Given The Webb School's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Panthers are ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The Webb School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jax Howard led the charge by scoring 21 points. Howard is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Brown, who scored 21 points.
Middle Tennessee Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for The Webb School, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-9.
Middle Tennessee Christian took a serious blow against the Feet in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 85-50. Can Middle Tennessee Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
