Baseball Recap: Sitka Comes Up Short

Sitka fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Juneau-Douglas on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crimson Bears by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by just one run.

Brett Ross made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Partido, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Sitka and nudges their season record down to 5-7-1. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Juneau-Douglas, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

While Sitka had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
