Basketball Game Preview: Catholic Central Crusaders vs. Queensbury Spartans

The Catholic Central Crusaders will face off against the Queensbury Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Catholic Central is returning to their home court after beating Academy of the Holy Names on theirs, despite the fact Academy of the Holy Names has dominated at home this season. Catholic Central blew past Academy of the Holy Names 56-31 last Friday. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with Academy of the Holy Names recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Queensbury walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 60-38 margin over the Warriors on Monday. The score was close at the half, but the Spartans pulled away in the second half with 38 points.

Catholic Central better keep an eye on Shea Canavan. She was instrumental in Queensbury's win, almost dropping a triple-double with 31 points, nine boards, and 11 steals. Canavan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 42 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kayla Zehr, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Queensbury smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Queensbury's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Catholic Central, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
