Basketball Recap: 15 Straight Home Wins for South View

South View won against Lumberton last Tuesday with 62 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The South View Tigers put the hurt on the Purnell Swett Rams with a sharp 62-38 victory. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Rams are ranked 405th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading South View to victory were Jordynn Parnell and Danauje Brooks. Parnell dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 boards, while Brooks went 10 of 25 on her way to 26 points along with five assists and five steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Brooks has scored at least a third of South View's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Beard, who posted three points and 15 boards.

South View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

South View's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. As for Purnell Swett, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South View will square off against Gray's Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season. As for Purnell Swett, they will face off against Douglas Byrd at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
