Basketball Recap: Denison's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

Denison won the last time they faced Lebanon Trail and things went their way on Saturday too. The Denison Yellow Jackets came out on top against the Lebanon Trail Trail Blazers by a score of 55-42. Given the Yellow Jackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Trail Blazers are ranked 586th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lebanon Trail lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zade Shawwa, who posted 15 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Molstad, who had 13 points and five rebounds.

Denison's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Lebanon Trail, they dropped their record down to 9-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Denison will head out to face off against Greenville at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Denison knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Greenville likes a good challenge. As for Lebanon Trail, they will host Centennial at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
