Baseball Recap: St. Francis Borgia Has No Trouble Against St. Pius X

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, St. Francis Borgia brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the St. Pius X Lancers on Monday. The Knights not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 9-1).

St. Francis Borgia got a great performance from Henry Zeitzmann as he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave Zeitzmann a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lane Mallinckrodt, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braxtyn Frankenberg, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

St. Francis Borgia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Pius X only managed six hits.

The win snapped St. Francis Borgia's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-10 record. As for St. Pius X, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Francis Borgia will face off against Owensville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dutchmen have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for St. Pius X, they will take on Valley Park at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
