On Friday, the Sun Valley Spartans were able to grind out a solid victory over the East Mecklenburg Eagles, taking the game 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Sun Valley let Moriah Garcia (2026) and Kendall Smith (2026) run wild. Garcia (2026) scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3, while Smith (2026) went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Garcia (2026) a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nykoll Vera (2027), who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Sun Valley's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for East Mecklenburg, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Sun Valley will head out on the road to challenge Union Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Mecklenburg, they will be playing at home against Charlotte Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be Charlotte Catholic's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
