Baseball Recap: Bluffton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Bluffton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the North Baltimore Tigers with a sharp 12-2 win on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Quinn Eachus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bluffton is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-9 otherwise. Eachus was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 contests.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Jebsen, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Nathan Speicher, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Bluffton's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for North Baltimore, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bluffton will challenge Arlington at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.08 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North Baltimore, they will head out on the road to challenge Upper Scioto Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
