Softball Recap: Windthorst Drops Season-High Score on Olney

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Windthorst). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Olney Cubs a 16-0 shutout on Monday. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Delaney Ashley looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Windthorst got a massive performance out of Karissa Fillingim, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Fillingim has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamdyn Neal, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Windthorst was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Windthorst's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Olney, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Windthorst will challenge Archer City at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Olney, they will square off against Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
