Softball Game Preview: Fairfield Knights vs. York Suburban Trojans

The Fairfield Knights will head out to face off against the York Suburban Trojans at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield will be strutting in after a win while York Suburban will be coming in after a defeat.

Fairfield made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hanover, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Knights put the hurt on the Nighthawks with a sharp 15-0 victory on Wednesday. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Maddy Payne made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kaylee Stone was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Madilynn Pletka, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Fairfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, York Suburban was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 12-0 to Susquehannock.

York Suburban's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Fairfield, their record now sits at 2-5.
