Basketball Recap: Franklin Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Franklin Academy extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-6. They lost 67-44 to the Roxboro Community Bulldogs. Patriots fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bulldogs since Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Franklin Academy lost, don't look at Ifrika Akajo. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Akajo is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Collins, who posted seven points.

As for Roxboro Community, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory they have posted against Franklin Academy since January 26, 2018.

Roxboro Community was led to victory by Katherine-Kaey 'Katie' Mann and Karrie Obie. Mann dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten boards, while Obie dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mann has scored at least a third of the Bulldogs' points. Haylee Weadon also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Looking ahead, Franklin Academy is taking a road trip to square off against Research Triangle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Roxboro Community, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against East Wake Academy at 6:00 p.m.
