Basketball Recap: Piper Pew's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hillcrest over Jordan

Hillcrest won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They came up short against the Jordan Beetdiggers, falling 45-24. The Huskies have struggled against the Beetdiggers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Hillcrest lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Piper Pew, who posted six points. The dominant performance gave Pew a new career-high in points. Nyomi Houston also deserves some recognition as she scored her first point of the season.

Jordan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was June Joseph, who earned eight points and ten rebounds. Joseph is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games she's played. Julia Willham was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

Hillcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Jordan, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-9.

Hillcrest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-27 loss against Cottonwood on the 4th. As for Jordan, they will head out to take on Stansbury at 5:15 p.m. on February 7th.
