Softball Recap: Parkview Baptist Takes a Loss

If Parkview Baptist was riding high fresh off their 9-2 takedown of St. Michael last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell just short of the Assumption Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Jolie Gawlik was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Avah Cavaness, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.

Parkview Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 18-12. As for Assumption, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season.

Parkview Baptist will venture away from home to take on West Feliciana at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Assumption, they will welcome Hahnville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 3.1, the Tigers 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
