Cahokia - Illinois Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Kolton Jany and Co. Win Seventh in a Row

Kolton Jany was instrumental in extending Chester's winning streak to seven on Friday. Jany turned in nothing short of a gem, rushing for 111 yards and a touchdown. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making four total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Unfortunately for Dupo, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Jany. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Jany saw the Tigers), he picked up 133 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.

Prater Came Up Big in Dupo's 48-14 Defeat

Dupo was sadly handed a defeat on Friday, but Deegan Prater did his best to prevent it. Despite the loss, Prater was still balling out as he rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 200 yards and a touchdown.

On the year, Prater has thrown 13 touchdowns while averaging 172.6 passing yards per game. It gets even more impressive: after seven games last season, he was only averaging 31.43 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 103.57 rushing yards.

Winning always takes teamwork, but on Friday William Waggoner stepped things up a notch to give Wesclin the 'W'. Nobody could stop Waggoner as he rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 34 receiving yards.

Wesclin's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. Waggoner and Wesclin will welcome Carlyle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Cael Madden Makes It Two for Wesclin

Another Wesclin player making an appearance on this list is Cael Madden. He rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 92 yards and a touchdown. He has become a key player for Wesclin: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise.

On the season, Madden has thrown 4 touchdowns while averaging 65.3 passing yards per game.

Dequan Woods Turns in Season-Best Performance

Sadly, Dequan Woods posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Sparta/Steeleville over Carlyle on Friday. Woods picked up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended a pass.

Sparta/Steeleville is on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7. Woods and Sparta/Steeleville will challenge Dupo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
