Basketball Game Preview: Gatewood Gators vs. Trinity Christian Crusaders

Gatewood and Trinity Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Gatewood Gators will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Trinity Christian Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Gatewood's favor as the squad sits on 20 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Trinity Christian has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.

Last Monday, Gatewood earned a 77-70 win over Windsor Academy.

It was another big night for Matt Allen, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 17 boards. The game was his 45th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Keiser, who posted 17 points.

Gatewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Trinity Christian suffered their biggest defeat since November 19, 2024 on Monday. They had to suffer through a 74-37 loss at the hands of Central Fellowship Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 547th, while the Lancers are ranked 175th).

Trinity Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Gatewood, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.

Gatewood was able to grind out a solid win over Trinity Christian in their previous meeting last Tuesday, winning 68-60. Will Gatewood repeat their success, or does Trinity Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
